Posted Image Cupcakemeet.com is teaming up with Import Performance to bring you CCM7 : "Cupcakin' for Kids". Our most anticipated event of the year! This event will be a little different than our normal "Meet and Greet" events of past. This will be a Charity show/event with 100% of the proceeds going to the Scottish Rite Hospital. What a great way to finally attend an event with a cause and help your community along the way. Let's begin with a little background about Scottish Rite Hospital (http://www.tsrhc.org/). SRH is a hospital established in 1921 who specializes in treating Texas's children whose family was not able to afford to pay for the medical bills. The most heart-warming thing about Scottish Rite is that they operate solely on donations from friends and the surrounding communities. Therefore "Cupcakin' for Kids" has a set a goal of donating $10,000 to the hospital for this upcoming year. Please help us surpass this goal. Come join us for a great event which includes: FREE FOOD, PRIZES, LIVE MUSIC and PERFORMANCE from local artist, as well as the HOTTEST CARS & MODELS from around the state. There will also be an availability of having your car photographed with our models at the photo shoot. Don't forget to pick up your CCM merchandise while your there. We will have t-shirts, decals, lanyards and license plates available for purchase. Admission Fee: Their will be a $15 admission fee per vehicle. Again, all proceeds go to the SRH charity. Event date: July 10th, 2010 Event location: American Airlines Center in Dallas 2500 Victory Avenue Lot "E" Dallas, TX 75219 Event Time: Event starts at 7:00 pm and runs to 10:00 pm. Gates are open for entry at 5:00 pm and will be closed at 7:00 pm. YOU MUST BE ON THE LOT BY 7:00 pm or you WILL NOT be able to enter your vehicle on the lot. Sorry guys and gals, these rules are per the American Airlines Center. Anyone who arrives after the 7:00 pm deadline will have to park on a separate lot controlled by AAC staff. AAC will also charge a $15 fee to park on their controlled lot (a fee that does not go to the SRH charity). In addition to this parking fee for their lot, all entrants will be charged $5 per person to enter the show lot. Therefore, it is in your best interest to arrive on time. Fashionably late will not score you any points this time and their will not be any exceptions. Pre-registrations: It is highly recommended that everyone pre-register for this event. Pre-registration helps us have an idea of the numbers to be expected and helps speed up the processing time on to the lot. As an added bonus, pre-registered members will receive a $5 gift card to Imported Performance. Pre-registration can be handled in one of two ways: 1. Paypal: Send payment to s-andrews@live.com Please send as a personal GIFT to avoid fees. Fees will only subtract from the charity funds. Please include your full name and make/model info. Please retain your transaction ID# for proof of pre-registration at the event. 2. By mail: e-mail Stephen at s-andrews@live.com and request a registration form. If neither of these two ways works for you, please call Stephen at 972-741-6358 to discuss other options. Upon arrival, you will need a photo ID for verification. Again, you must be on the lot before 7:00 pm. Even if you pre-register for the event and their will not be any refunds for late arrivals. Donations: We will be accepting any size donations through Paypal, mail or cash. Please see above on pre-registration on how to send via Paypal or mail. Again, the hospital ONLY survives on donations. We encourage everyone to donate if possible. Tell your friends and family members about this event and our cause. Get them to pass the information along as well. Every little bit helps. Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated not only by us, but by the children who are in desperate need of it. Thank you. Prizes: Trophies and Awards will be giving to classes depending on the number of pre-registrations. This is just a brief example of the classes. Classes will be added (or subtracted) accordingly when 5 or more cars pre-register. Awards will be announced at 9:00 pm. Time: 12noon-11pm

Price: $10 per person at the gate( this means everyone, driver and passenger)
$10 per tech card( this means if you wanna race it will be $10 on top of the 10 you paid to get in)
Show entry = $20 prepay / $30 march 31st - day of show
Axle insurance = $20 (delta only)

Gates will open at 12pm, at this time cars will be allowed to park and if you enter show you be put in your class.
please begin final cleaning and display set up of your car.
Judging will end at 4:30pm
5pm 1/4 mile track will open. Track will be open to race from 5 - 11pm
Please keep in mind we will be sharing the track with locals this day so be aware of spectators.

I am implementing something new this year called "axle insurance". the only thing worse than someone not coming
to this event out of fear of breaking parts is for someone to make the long trip and actually break down and have no way
home. Last year more than one person broke an axle on the track and were hard pressed to get it repaired in order to make
their long journey home. This year Centex will have on hand stock replacment axles for manual Delta body cars.
If you pay the $20 axle insurance fee upon arrival, and you break an axle at any time during the day ON the track Centex will not only give you a replacement but we will install it for you ON SITE. Thats right, no extra charge, no looking for a repair shop, no towing your car home, and best of all....not holding back when racing. only 1 stipulation to this...
we will only replace ONE axle per car, meaning; if you break an axle and we replace it and you still choose to go back out
and race only to break one again we will not replace it a second time. The insurance program is designed to provide
racers what they need to get home safely and inexpensively. Our main concern is that you come out, have fun, and make it home safe.

Racing : I will be giving out 3 awards for racing this year
GM compact fastest car
GM compact fastest N/A car
GM Full (this includes gm midsize to fullsize cars that came with v6 or v8 , boosted or NA)

*Cost to be entered in the race competition is $5, this fee will be waived if you already paid for your car to be in the show.
If you are not entered in the competition you are still able to race but will not be eligible for award. All race fees must
be paid BEFORE track opens at 5pm

Show : As mentioned before PreRegistration for show entry is $20, after march 31st show entry will be $30,
race competition fee will be included with registration at any time. In order to PreRegister for the show please
send all info to : Scott Trent
107 Orgain St.
Hutto TX, 78634 check and MO accepted
For paypal payments please send to : lonestarbash@gmail.com

GM Announces Saturn's Fate

As reported by Aaron Cooper of CNN:

SPRING HILL, Tennessee (CNN)
-- The town that Saturn put on the map is worried about its future and its residents hope the auto plant and jobs won't go the way of its most famous product.

General Motors announced this week that it would close its Saturn line after its sale to Penske Automotive Group fell through.

At the end of "Saturn Parkway" in Spring Hill, Tennessee, sits the huge plant where -- as the ads touted -- "a different kind of car company" produced a "different kind of car."

The first Saturn, a red S-Series, rolled off the line in 1990 and it's still on display at the factory. The factory, along with the town, have played a major role in the company's image and advertisements, even hosting tours and "reunions" for Saturn car owners.

At City Hall, the walls are decorated with old photos of the small town Spring Hill was before Saturn came to town and what it's grown into.

"I think people are very proud an American-made car was made here," area resident Barbara Williams said.

Mayor Mike Dinwiddie credits most of the town's growth to the Saturn plant. "GM, back in the mid 80's, is the reason this town began to grow in the first place," he said.......
