IMPORT FACE-OFF: January 17th, 2009



Houston's longest running Import event, NOS Energy Drink's IMPORT FACE-OFF will be on Sunday, January 17th from 10am to 5pm at Houston Raceway Park. $7000+ in cash and trophies will be awarded to participants.

This IFO will actually be our 100th event on the national tour since 2001! To commemorate this achievement, Import Tuner and PAS magazine will be covering the event. All racers and show cars, be sure to come out, rep hard, and put Texas on the map!

SPRING HILL, Tennessee (CNN) -- The town that Saturn put on the map is worried about its future and its residents hope the auto plant and jobs won't go the way of its most famous product.

General Motors announced this week that it would close its Saturn line after its sale to Penske Automotive Group fell through.

At the end of "Saturn Parkway" in Spring Hill, Tennessee, sits the huge plant where -- as the ads touted -- "a different kind of car company" produced a "different kind of car."

The first Saturn, a red S-Series, rolled off the line in 1990 and it's still on display at the factory. The factory, along with the town, have played a major role in the company's image and advertisements, even hosting tours and "reunions" for Saturn car owners.

At City Hall, the walls are decorated with old photos of the small town Spring Hill was before Saturn came to town and what it's grown into.

"I think people are very proud an American-made car was made here," area resident Barbara Williams said.

Mayor Mike Dinwiddie credits most of the town's growth to the Saturn plant. "GM, back in the mid 80's, is the reason this town began to grow in the first place," he said.......

First off, I decided to post this in the announcements because I feel it'll get a quicker response and overall more exposure. Mods, if you feel it doesn't belong here, please move.



Would you like your car to be featured in a wall calendar for everybody to see? Well, now is your chance. You have the opportunity to have your car featured in the 2010 GM Tuners of Houston Calendar.

12 cars will be allowed in the calendar. If there are more than 12 requests for spots, the cars will be voted on. The cover will have a collage of cars.

To get an opportunity at a featured month spot in the calendar, you must submit your request by Sept 30. Calendars should be available for purchase no later than November 1.


If you wish to have your car featured in the Calendar, you Must meet the following requirements

- For pictures from a digital camera, the camera must be at least 2 MegaPixels (prefer higher), and the images taken at the highest quality setting (2 MegaPixels is a file 1600 x 1200 pixels). Please do not edit, recompress, or resize the images. Image size should be at least 1600x1200 pixels, preferably larger!)
- Exterior shot for the main image. Other shots can be anything else of your car. I need minimum of 4 pictures featuring different parts of your car (i.e. exterior front shot for main; exterior rear, interior, engine shots for side images).
- Images should be clear, decent looking photo
- I reserve the right to reject your car if your photos are not up to par!

Submission Emails should include:
* Email Subject should be "GM of Houston 2010 Calendar Submission"
* At least 4 Quality Pics. One exterior shot for the main image and then 3 more of anything else you want.
- It is recommended to send more then 4 to make sure the images sent fit with the layout of the calendar.
* List your Screenname, Car Info (Year, Make, Model), Top 3 choices for Month (does not automatically guarantee you'll get one of those months)
